Airmic will have its say on plans for the proposed ‘Pandemic Re’ initiative with Deputy CEO and Technical Director Julia Graham invited to join one of its workstreams.

The UK insurance industry is collaborating through the Pandemic Re Steering Committee to support the government-backed Pool Re add a pandemic cover that will support businesses find the insurance protection they require.

On 1 June it was announced there would be six working groups reporting to the Committee, with the Customer Engagement and Distribution being led by Chair Julie Page, CEO of Aon UK, and Deputy Chair Chris Lay, CEO of Marsh UK & Ireland.  Julia Graham will represent Airmic members by providing input to this workstream.

“Pool Re, since its launch in 1993, has been a successful example of what can be achieved when the insurance industry and government work together,” Ms Graham told Airmic News.

“The pandemic has highlighted the need for further steps to be taken to protect businesses and support insurers in providing fit-for-purpose coverage for other catastrophic and difficult to insure risks. I look forward to representing the views of Airmic members in this regard.”

The other workstreams are Technical Insurance, Modelling and Data, Scheme Structure/Operating Models. Pandemic Preparedness and Mitigation and Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs.
