Public disclosure for corporate greenhouse gas emissions
The House of Lords has passed an amendment so that all companies will have to make public their greenhouse gas emissions.
The amendment to the Climate Change Bill means that, if it is accepted by the House of Commons, all companies will have to make public their greenhouse gas emissions in their annual reports.
A coalition of UK businesses, NGOs and government agencies said such transparency will create a level playing field for UK business, making them more accountable to consumers and investors and is likely be a significant driver for emission reductions in the corporate sector.
