69% chance of intense hurricane hitting US coast this year

There is a 69% chance of an intense hurricane hitting the US Coast during this year’s hurricane season, according to experts in the US. William Gray and Philip Klotzbach of Colorado State University put the chances at higher than the normal annual average. They expect 15 named tropical storms this year. Eight are expected to become hurricanes of which four are expected to be ‘intense’, with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater.
